Any entrepreneur can tell you, launching a startup is a learning process. Therefore, one of the best things you can do prior to launching a startup of your own is to learn from those who have blazed the trail. We were fortunate enough to hear some valuable insights during our interview with Jason Kibbey of Higg that will inspire, motivate, and teach aspiring and established entrepreneurs alike.
What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?
“Ask for help. Find things to build that you believe in. Don’t give up when it’s hard.”
What is your advice for entrepreneurs in your industry specifically?
“My advice is for technology-powered impact businesses: the opportunity for transforming business commerce and the way we live in the world is probably as big as the opportunity that was enabled by the internet, and there’s a lot to be done today. The whole world will be transformed. There’s an unbelievable amount of opportunity.”
What is your advice for coming up with a unique startup idea?
“Don’t get too worried about coming up with a unique startup idea. Most ideas aren’t unique and have been done five times before. Find something that works and make it work better. The idea doesn’t matter — find a problem that needs to be solved or a market that needs to be addressed and do it better than anyone else.”
What is your advice for overcoming challenges and failure?
“Meditate. Meditating is difficult for many, especially at the onset. Overcome the inevitable difficulty or potential failure of meditation.”
What is the biggest lesson you learned and what can aspiring entrepreneurs take from it?
“Be resilient and don’t think of entrepreneurship just in terms of the company you are creating today. The work I’m doing now is the product of other organizations that I started. Some worked, and some didn’t.”
