Insights From the Founders of Interior Design Startup Pabio

Pabio founders.

Any entrepreneur can tell you, launching a startup is a learning process. Therefore, one of the best things you can do prior to launching a startup of your own is to learn from those who have blazed the trail. We were fortunate enough to hear some valuable insights during our interview with Carlo Badini and Anand Chowdhary of Pabio that will inspire, motivate, and teach aspiring and established entrepreneurs alike.

What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?

“Set clear goals and measure your progress towards them. Using a framework such as OKRs works well, but something as simple as a to-do list on a piece of paper works too.”

What is your advice for entrepreneurs in your industry specifically?

“The furniture industry is in need of a big change. At Pabio, we want to disrupt the furniture industry and change how people live by offering a better, more sustainable, and more affordable alternative to traditional furniture retail. Don't be afraid of taking the big ones on!”

What is your advice for coming up with a unique startup idea?

“Don't! There's no rule that says startup ideas need to be unique. Most successes come when you have a unique insight applied to an existing idea — executing the idea better is what matters.”

What is your advice for overcoming challenges and failure?

“Have a support system that will be there to help you overcome failure, and don't be afraid to share. We all have ups and downs, so rely upon your community when you're feeling low and be there for them when they are.”

What is the biggest lesson you learned and what can aspiring entrepreneurs take from it?

“Do what you feel is right. There were several decisions that we had to make as co-founders early on, and we didn't have data or statistics with which we could decide. We ended up [discussing] how we were feeling and deciding based on just that, disregarding what others told us. We are extremely happy with all of our choices that we [made] when we did what we felt was the right thing to do.”
