Insights From the Founder of Social Media Startup Clava

Clava team members.

Any entrepreneur can tell you, launching a startup is a learning process. Therefore, one of the best things you can do prior to launching a startup of your own is to learn from those who have blazed the trail. We were fortunate enough to hear some valuable insights during our interview with AJ Picard of Clava that will inspire, motivate, and teach aspiring and established entrepreneurs alike.

What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?

“If I had to do it over again, I wouldn’t have quit my job until I had more traction. Living off your savings is stressful; you see a lot of money leaving your account, but none coming in. Be patient; you can work on your startup and full-time job until your startup can pay you full-time.”

What is your advice for entrepreneurs in your industry specifically?

“Community is power. Focus on building your community and then the product.”

What is your advice for coming up with a unique startup idea?

“Think about the problems you face throughout your day, [and] create a product that solves those problems.”

What is your advice for overcoming challenges and failure?

“Keep pushing through. If what you’re trying to do is easy, everyone would be doing it.”

What is the biggest lesson you learned and what can aspiring entrepreneurs take from it?

“Build a team that provides [you with] different skill sets. Teamwork makes the dream work.”
