Any entrepreneur can tell you, launching a startup is a learning process. Therefore, one of the best things you can do prior to launching a startup of your own is to learn from those who have blazed the trail. We were fortunate enough to hear some valuable insights during our interview with Jimmie Harris of 19°N that will inspire, motivate, and teach aspiring and established entrepreneurs alike.
What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?
“Fall in love with problems, not solutions. Too many people find a great problem and try to build a crappy solution for it. Somewhere along the way, they realize it’s not working but feel too invested in what they’ve made to change.”
What is your advice for entrepreneurs in your industry specifically?
“Don’t be scared to innovate, but know that you might need to find non-traditional channels to find your audience.”
What is your advice for coming up with a unique startup idea?
“Have a unique value proposition – make sure there’s no other products or services [that] are able to do what you are suggesting.”
What is your advice for overcoming challenges and failure?
“Make sure you have a solid support network that provides honest and supportive feedback. When you’re running into issues, it’s invaluable to have people a bit removed from your idea that can give you a new perspective.”
What is the biggest lesson you learned and what can aspiring entrepreneurs take from it?
“Make sure you know why you’re building what you’re building, write down your values, and stick to them.”
