DevRev, a startup company that will create a machine intelligence platform designed to bring developers closer to business customers and revenue, has launched today. The startup company announced it raised $50 million in seed business funding, led by Dheeraj Pandey, co-founder of Nutanix and former CEO and current board member at Adobe.

Bringing Rev and Dev Together

Other business investors that participated in the business funding round include Mayfield Fund, Khosla Ventures, and a number of industry luminaries. The startup company has already hired over 75 people using seed funding.

"Today, every company is a software company, yet we isolate developers (dev) from customers and revenue (rev). By removing the bureaucracy between makers and consumers — with APIs, design, and an opinionated engagement model — we will empower devs to create customer-conscious products and businesses. That's our mission: bring dev and rev together!” said Dheeraj Pandey.

Navin Chaddha, the managing director at Mayfield Fund, said he believes DevRev’s mission to make developers business leaders will help it become an “iconic company.”

Through the utilization of machine-learning intelligence, DevRev’s mission is to allow developers and business customers to connect and collaborate with each other both socially and in real-time. The startup company strives to develop an API-first, developer-centric customer relationship management (CRM) that utilizes data, design, and machine intelligence to help developers build, support, and grow their business.

"Being product builders ourselves, Dheeraj and I have both felt the pain in leaving developers in the back-office," commented the company’s other co-founder Manoj Agarwal, former Nutanix SVP of engineering. "With a headless dev-centric CRM vision, we are looking to bring developers to the forefront of decision-making and real-time customer collaboration."

The platform will enable developers to link their code with production issues and customer interactions. It will also allow developers to start modern product-led growth (PLG) and be cloud-centric.

Vinod Khosla, a founder and partner at Khosla Ventures, said that usually the code that is written by developers “has little to no input on how customers use their product and its features." Khosla noted that the vision outlined by the startup company that will connect business customers and developers is a revolutionary idea that will have a massive impact on companies in the future.

DevRev’s operations are entirely digital, utilizing social networks to hire employees and help grow a community around its solution. The startup company has already managed to build a highly experienced team in less than six months via automation, search, and a product-led candidate experience. DevRev’s team is currently scattered across Austin, Bangalore, Ljubljana, and the San Francisco Bay area.

Raised funding will allow the company to focus on building its developer-focused products and connecting them with communities on Discord, GitHub, and other platforms that seek developers’ input while improving the product in-house.

Before DevRev, Pandey and Agarwal founded Nutanix in 2009 and raised more than $1 billion in funding before going public in 2016. The two left Nutanix at the end of 2020 to start DevRev.

Summary

DevRev, an early-stage business focused on bringing developers and customers together, has launched today. For this purpose, the startup company also announced it secured $50 million in seed business funding led by its co-founder and former Adobe CEO Dheeraj Pandey.
