Founder of Pet Startup Spleash Shares Their Top Insights

Spleash founder, Kerry Cooke.

Any entrepreneur can tell you, launching a startup is a learning process. Therefore, one of the best things you can do prior to launching a startup of your own is to learn from those who have blazed the trail. Kerry Cooke, founder of pet startup Spleash, shared valuable insights during our interview that will inspire and motivate aspiring entrepreneurs.

What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?

“Don't give up. There are going to be many hurdles that will appear in your path, and no matter how insurmountable they seem, you must stand by your idea. Because it is your faith in yourself and your idea that will show the world just how special it truly is.”

What is the best method you've found to avoid burnout as an entrepreneur?

“Remember to take some time for yourself. I often take walks with my dogs to be out in the world, and I like to take a deep breath of fresh air to remind myself to unwind.”

What is your advice for coming up with a unique startup idea?

“Research is your best friend. If you find a problem in your own life that you can solve, there's a chance that others have the same problem and have been searching for a solution. So when the time comes, hopping on the internet to see what else is out there is always a good start!”

What is your advice for overcoming challenges and failure?

“I would say that it's important to keep getting back up. No matter how life knocks you down, you need to keep getting to your feet and attacking the issue from new angles. Otherwise, you'll never be able to move forward with your dream.”

What is the biggest lesson you learned and what can aspiring entrepreneurs take from it?

“I learned that the phrase, ‘build it and they will come’ Does not apply to business. You may have an amazing idea, but just making it and waiting for the customers to come to you isn't going to cut it. There's a lot more work to be done behind the scenes than most people realize, and it's vital that you learn this before starting out.”

What is the best advice you've ever received?

“The best advice I've ever received is to judge a person by their actions over time. People can surprise you. Not every snap judgment can tell you who a person truly is.”
