The Good’s Mart is an innovative take on the traditional convenience store featuring better-for-you items and a modern aesthetic.
Interview With Rachel Krupa
Describe your product or service & the problem it’s solving:
“Rachel Krupa opened The Goods Mart in 2018 with a mission: to introduce her local community to better-for-you, better-for-the-planet products. Growing up in rural Michigan, Krupa felt connected to the local 7/11 as a place where people gathered to buy their weekly staples.. Inspired by this, Krupa set out to create the modern, upgraded version of this community space – one that makes better-for-you products accessible to everyone.
Today, with three locations in NYC, The Goods Mart has grown into a convenience store for a new generation – one that serves as a showcase and curator for emerging, better-for-you, sustainably-minded products from small, undiscovered brands while offering consumers socially conscious (all non-GMO, no artificial flavors or colors, no single-use plastic beverage bottles, etc.) products.”
How did you come up with and validate your startup idea? Tell us the story!
“I always loved going to my community convenience store, and I wanted to create a place for community to come together and bond over their love and excitement for snacks/beverages.”

What has been your most successful marketing campaign, and why do you think it worked so well?
“We opened our doors and got great earned [and] organic press.”

“It’s like a roller coaster, you have ups and downs and twists and turns, but at the end, you have so much adrenaline that you want to do it again.”
What is your #1 piece of advice for early-stage startup founders?
“Believe in yourself and your passion!”
