Founder of Software Startup Swell Shares Their Top Insights

Swell team.

Any entrepreneur can tell you, launching a startup is a learning process. Therefore, one of the best things you can do prior to launching a startup of your own is to learn from those who have blazed the trail. Eric Ingram, founder of software startup Swell, shared valuable insights during our interview that will inspire and motivate aspiring entrepreneurs.

What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?

“Find a problem you're truly passionate about and don't give up.”

What is the best method you've found to avoid burnout as an entrepreneur?

“While building a startup, I've found it's important not to put your life on hold. Whether it's traveling, building a family, or pursuing other hobbies – you won't burn out as long as you have a sense of balance and progress across the board.”

What is your advice for coming up with a unique startup idea?

“It has to be genuine. Pay close attention to those common annoyances during everyday work that can result in new ideas, and your direct experience will serve as motivation to push it forward.”

What is your advice for overcoming challenges and failure?

“Don't panic. Failure is the first step in leveling up any skill or ability. Be honest about what you can learn, try to view it as a positive, and keep pushing forward.”

What is the biggest lesson you learned and what can aspiring entrepreneurs take from it?

“If you aren't deeply passionate about what you're working on, then you don't be able to push past the challenges that will come. Prioritize that and then rest will follow.”
