Founder of Tech Startup Qwil Messenger Shares Their Top Insights

Qwil Messenger founder.

Any entrepreneur can tell you, launching a startup is a learning process. Therefore, one of the best things you can do prior to launching a startup of your own is to learn from those who have blazed the trail. Laurent Guyot, founder of tech startup Qwil Messenger, shared valuable insights during our interview that will inspire and motivate aspiring entrepreneurs.

What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?

“The rational advice is to not do it! But there has to be a naive drive to take that step. Not look too far ahead but benefit from short-term momentum.”

What is your advice for coming up with a unique startup idea?

“It's always about the problem you are looking to solve.”

What is your advice for overcoming challenges and failure?

“It is tough but it is about learning from any feedback and building on it. Often breaking down the failure into its parts. Is it losing a sale? Did they go for another product? Was it timing? Did they not understand our proposition? Should we change the way we market, etc.?”

What is the biggest lesson you learned and what can aspiring entrepreneurs take from it?

“Everything takes longer. Very few startups are successful overnight. I think it is always about building a business first, then putting tools in place from day one to make sure everything can be scaled — technology but also sales. Important, as you will likely remain small for some time, so everything needs to be efficient!”

What is the best advice you've ever received?

“You scale as a result of what you have built, not as a main objective.”
