Founder of Software Startup Punchlist Shares Their Top Insights

Punchlist founders.

Any entrepreneur can tell you, launching a startup is a learning process. Therefore, one of the best things you can do prior to launching a startup of your own is to learn from those who have blazed the trail. Pete Bernardo, founder of software startup Punchlist, shared valuable insights during our interview that will inspire and motivate aspiring entrepreneurs.

What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?

“Nothing will ever be perfect. Take at-bats and learn. Entrepreneurship is about iteration and never about knowing the answers on day one. This is true before you start and when you are in the thick of it.”

What is the best method you've found to avoid burnout as an entrepreneur?

“Take breaks when you need it. And walk to lunch.”

What is your advice for coming up with a unique startup idea?

“I think unique startup ideas come from unique insights. A deep understanding of an issue or audience, coupled with your ability to challenge the status quo. Why do we do it this way? What is the biggest source of frustration? What makes us different in the way we solve the problem?”

What is your advice for overcoming challenges and failure?

“Things will fail. Understanding how you will adjust for the next time is the key. Stay resourceful.”

What is the best advice you've ever received?

“There is always fear in doing anything the first time. Once you are past it, you can adjust.”
