Founder of Mobility Startup Motion Shares Their Top Insights

Motion founders.

Any entrepreneur can tell you, launching a startup is a learning process. Therefore, one of the best things you can do prior to launching a startup of your own is to learn from those who have blazed the trail. We were fortunate enough to hear some valuable insights during our interview with Jose Díaz of Motion that will inspire, motivate, and teach aspiring and established entrepreneurs alike.

What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?

“I think most people won't tell [you] this, but if you can and if you have a job at the moment you want to pursue entrepreneurship; don't quit your job and save as much money [as] you can. Try to work on your idea on the side and use your spare time for it.

Don't let others’ opinions about your idea discourage you; if you believe it and you can't sleep because of it, that's a good sign to keep pursuing it.

Have patience, persevere, stay humble, work hard, stay tenacious, stay curious.”

What is the best you've found to avoid burnout as an entrepreneur?

“Love what you do. [I] don't know anyone that got burnout loving what they do.”

What is your advice for coming up with a unique startup idea?

“I think ideas come to you, not the other way around. Normally you find the ideas by experiencing problems yourself that you found difficult to solve.”

What is your advice for overcoming challenges and failure?

“Like I mentioned before, by embracing them, learning from them, and by having the humility and patience to solve them with time. Challenges and failure[s] are the best teachers you can have.”

What is the biggest lesson you learned and what can aspiring entrepreneurs take from it?

“You need to trust yourself first and what you can do before you ever think to trust other people.”

What is the best advice you've ever received?

“First, you should only be allowed to receive advice from your family and people you’ve known for many years. People are driven by their own interests. The best advice I receive is from my family, which was always to keep pushing, always moving forward, and never look and go back.”
