Insights From the Founder of Business Services Startup LAUFT

LAUFT founder.

Any entrepreneur can tell you, launching a startup is a learning process. Therefore, one of the best things you can do prior to launching a startup of your own is to learn from those who have blazed the trail. Graham Wong, founder of business services startup LAUFT, shared valuable insights during our interview that will inspire and motivate aspiring entrepreneurs.

What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?

“Don't be afraid to lean into the pain that will inevitably cross your path as an entrepreneur. The pain is the only place where you have an opportunity to grow. Face it, understand it and learn from it. You will become stronger as a result.”

What is the best method you've found to avoid burnout as an entrepreneur?

“One method is to take a weekly clarity break. I go for a long walk, and I turn off my phone. I do not listen to music or a podcast on my walk. I stay present and reflect on myself, life in general, and the business. It has served me well and has helped to put things into perspective.”

What is your advice for coming up with a unique startup idea?

“Keep it simple and identify what problem you are solving. Many unique ideas get lost in themselves and forget that people don't buy ideas; they are buying the solution to a pain that they are experiencing.”

What is your advice for overcoming challenges and failure?

“Understand that challenges and failure are very real, potential outcomes. The avoidance of this reality is damaging to an entrepreneur because they are disconnected from the complete picture of their business.”

What is the biggest lesson you learned and what can aspiring entrepreneurs take from it?

“Not everyone who says they are an entrepreneur is. It sounds romantic, and it is easy to rattle off. It is extremely hard to build a business, and a real entrepreneur shows up for the hardest moment because they know that they have no choice. Celebrate your tenacity, and if you are one of the few that shows up when no one else will — you are one in a million!”

What is the best advice you've ever received?

“No one in life owes you anything. Truly.”
