Insights From the Founder of Real Estate Startup Homebldr

Homebldr founder.

Any entrepreneur can tell you, launching a startup is a learning process. Therefore, one of the best things you can do prior to launching a startup of your own is to learn from those who have blazed the trail. We were fortunate enough to hear some valuable insights during our interview with Adam M. Eldibany of Homebldr that will inspire, motivate, and teach aspiring and established entrepreneurs alike.

What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?

“When starting a business, don’t immediately start thinking about how technology can help the business seem cool and innovative.  Define the problem that you want to solve, and build as simple of a solution as possible.  This allows you to achieve product-market fit and even start generating revenue with minimal costs.  Once you’re able to prove that your solution works and there are customers willing to pay for it, you’re set.”

What is your advice for entrepreneurs in your industry specifically?

“Identify problems in the real estate industry that can be solved by augmenting existing processes.  Real estate has and may always be a relationship business, and this is why a lot of technologies built to replace the real estate broker will not succeed in the long term.  Technologies built to enhance the capabilities of the real estate broker will succeed and will change the industry forever.”

What is your advice for coming up with a unique startup idea?

“Read about other successful entrepreneurs.  I’ve read so many autobiographies and biographies, and each one has increased my motivation and helped me understand what it takes to be successful.  When a first-time entrepreneur knows where they want to be and doesn’t know how to get there, it’s a very intimidating and paralyzing scenario.  Learning about other entrepreneurs’ journeys helps identify possible paths to achieving your goals.”

What is your advice for overcoming challenges and failure?

“Don’t take it personally.  Remove all emotion from the equation, learn from your mistakes, and try again.”

What is the biggest lesson you learned and what can aspiring entrepreneurs take from it?

“Building a company, especially as a solo founder, can be a lonely and discouraging journey.  In order to stay motivated, surround yourself with other inspiring people. They will help you by either supporting you or instilling a sense of competition that will make you keep pushing forward.”
