Business Insights From the Founder of Finotta
What is your #1 piece of advice for startup founders?
“It doesn't matter where you are, or where you've been, you have an opportunity to change your life right now. You just have to be willing to move one inch in that direction every day, and pretty soon you'll look up and be happy with where you are.”
What is the best method you've found to avoid burnout as an entrepreneur?
“Pick an idea or a company that you enjoy in an industry you have a passion for. It's the easiest way to ensure that you'll have what it takes to take burnout to its limit.”
What is your advice for coming up with a unique startup idea?
“The best ones that I have seen are much less coming up with an idea and much more solving a pain point that you yourself are experiencing. Think about the biggest thing you wish was fixed in your life that you have a passion around, and go do that thing.”
What is your advice for overcoming challenges and failure?
“Challenges and failures are inevitable, so instead of worrying about them, seek them out! You'll discover that the more you seek them, the more you'll find ways around them or be able to avoid them altogether and get to the success you're looking for faster.”
What is the biggest lesson you learned and what can aspiring entrepreneurs take from it?
“You have to be willing to sacrifice everything you have. I got divorced, almost went bankrupt, lost my cofounders, and had to start over numerous times for this company. The best part is, I wouldn't trade that experience for anything in the world. I had to earn where I am, and there's nothing more satisfying than that.”
What is the best advice you've ever received?
“Everyone's story is different, but these quotes have helped me tremendously:
‘Success is the ability to go from failure to failure and not lose enthusiasm.’ — Winston Churchill
‘Our lives move in the direction of our strongest thoughts.’ — Craig Groschel
‘Somebody might beat me, but by God they’re going to have to bleed to do it.’ — Steve Prefontaine”
