Any entrepreneur can tell you, launching a startup is a learning process. Therefore, one of the best things you can do prior to launching a startup of your own is to learn from those who have blazed the trail. We were fortunate enough to hear some valuable insights during our interview with Joe Roets of Dragonchain that will inspire, motivate, and teach aspiring and established entrepreneurs alike.
What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?
“Define the goal. Focus on the goal. Adjust.”
What is the best method you’ve found to avoid burnout as an entrepreneur?
“Spend time with family, the people that matter. Be open to new ways to attack a problem.”
What is your advice for coming up with a unique startup idea?
“Understand the solutions (e.g., technology solutions) from an atomic perspective — that is, what are the parts of the solution that can be applied flexibly. Overlap that with known issues and opportunities in the real world, especially issues that are often considered “unsolvable” … Design a solution that offers the most unique, simple, and flexible approach to solve that issue, and that’s your startup idea.”
What is your advice for overcoming challenges and failure?
“Never give up. Recognize failures (your own and others). Be ready and willing to change your approach.”
What is the biggest lesson you learned and what can aspiring entrepreneurs take from it?
“That systems need to be as flexible as unanticipated problems in the real world.
That you can benefit much from understanding the problem and components of any solution when applying a more philosophical approach at the outset.”
What is the best advice you’ve ever received?
“Listen.”
