Insights From the Founder of Virtual Event Startup Dineable

CEO and founder of Dineable.

Any entrepreneur can tell you, launching a startup is a learning process. Therefore, one of the best things you can do prior to launching a startup of your own is to learn from those who have blazed the trail. We were fortunate enough to hear some valuable insights during our interview with Mark Surkin of Dineable that will inspire, motivate, and teach aspiring and established entrepreneurs alike.

What advice do you have for aspiring entrepreneurs?

“Don't do anything else until you've spoken to potential customers about their problems, found a pattern, and validated a potential solution (and validated that they'll pay you for it).”

What is your advice for entrepreneurs in your industry specifically?

“Everything you do should be about the guest. The rest is bulls*** along the way.”

What is your advice for coming up with a unique startup idea?

“Don't focus on being unique — be useful. Unique doesn't matter if nobody wants it.”

What is your advice for overcoming challenges and failure?

“Focus on progress, not winning. Progress can only happen when there are challenges and failures to overcome. These challenges and failures make you better. If you're focused on the next win, then every challenge or failure will feel like a loss. That's not how this works.”
