Business Insights From the Founder of Areej Fragrance

What is your #1 piece of advice for startup founders?

“‘If you cannot do great things, do small things in a great way.’ Napoleon Hill. Entrepreneurs and startup founders sometimes wish to raise/have more money to achieve great goals; however, the focus should be on doing what is necessary with what is in hand.”

What is the best method you've found to avoid burnout as an entrepreneur?

“Take a specific amount of time to clear my mind by doing nothing until it’ll be good.

Add fun elements to the process of doing things every day.

Do small things successfully and ask for help selectively.”

What is your advice for coming up with a unique startup idea?

  1. “Observation: look into the problems you have or other’s problems from your circle and measure the size of opportunity it has. Develop a process for filtering startup ideas by asking more questions and direct discussions with other founders and community members that fit with the idea you had. Share startup ideas in communities like Slack and Twitter, and absolutely use Kernal
  2. (2) Writing and journaling: you know what I am talking about.”

What is your advice for overcoming challenges and failure?

“Nothing is hard, and nothing is easy. Stand where you can do what matters and start moving forward towards your goals and the roadmap you set. Make rewarding plans to you and with your team (if you have a small team) to have new breaths and momentum.”

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned and what can aspiring entrepreneurs take from it?

“Startup founders are risk takers and high achievers, but walking alone is hard. Surround yourself with people who believe in you and work with people and team members who share ambitions and vision.”

What is your advice for entrepreneurs seeking funding for the first time?

  1. “I was and still am one of the founders and entrepreneurs seeking funding. Make a system and ensure you seek not only the money but someone who believes in you. Make your funding search and pitching silly, simple, and short, and have multiple formats (video and text) for your startup growth.
  2. Keep your eyes and heart on community.”
