Squarespace Pricing and Plans: How Much Does Squarespace Cost?

Squarespace landing page on laptop.

The Squarespace website builder offers several plans for creating a business website — each with different feature sets and price points. With so many plans to choose from, finding the best Squarespace plan for your business website can seem daunting. So, we’re going to break down each plan to help you find the Squarespace plan that matches your website needs.

This Squarespace pricing guide will explain the core offerings of each plan as well as what business types will benefit the most from them. Because every plan doesn’t include all of Squarespace’s features, we’ll also discuss some optional features you can add to your website for an additional fee. By the end you’ll know how much does Squarespace cost, and if having a Squarespace business website is right for you.

Recommended: We found the Squarespace Business plan to be a great fit for entrepreneurs needing to quickly set up a professional site that looks great.

Before You Begin

Before you start building and customizing your website, it’s important to have an outline in mind of how you want your finished website to look. Squarespace’s intuitive tools make it easy to customize your site, but it’s still possible to lose your direction without an outline or overall concept in mind. If you don’t have an outline yet, we can help! Just take a look at our How To Build a Website guide to get started.

In addition, before you begin building you should look over the feature list for each of Sqarespace’s website-building plans:

The Squarespace Personal Plan

The Squarespace Personal plan is a great introduction for those who want to get familiar with Squarespace and website building, in general. But this plan doesn’t offer any speciality tools so, if you need marketing tools or ecommerce functionality, it may not work for you.

Core Offerings

  • Free Custom Domain: A free custom domain means you can lock in your website’s domain without paying more for its registration. This feature comes with a few important caveats, including the need to pay annually for your Squarespace plan.  After the first year it’ll renew at Squarespace’s standard rate. This promotional rate can only be applied for one domain.
  • Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Security: SSL certificates provide the industry standard of online security. This feature encrypts information exchanged between your customers and your website, making it harder for hackers to gain access to that data.
  • Unlimited Bandwidth and Storage: This means you won’t have to worry about risking the suspension of your website or incurring overage fees as your Squarespace website grows and attracts more traffic.
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) Features for Site Visibility: In the settings for most Squarespace templates, you’ll find tools to help you improve your site’s SEO. This can help your website appear higher on search engine results pages.
  • Templates To Fit Every Need: When building your Squarespace website, you’ll start by choosing a template. These templates cover a massive range of use cases, so take some time to find the perfect one. The available templates will vary based on your chosen plan.
  • Access for Two Contributors: Adding a second contributor means you won’t need to make all the changes to your website on your own. This Squarespace plan lets you add a second contributor so you can split the responsibility and upkeep.
  • Mobile Optimization: Squarespace ensures your website will look good on any device, including smartphones and tablets.
  • 24/7 Customer Support: No matter when you run into a problem, Squarespace’s customer care team will be available to help you figure it out.
  • Basic Website Metrics: This feature tracks certain data about your website traffic, such as where people find your website and how many pages they visit before leaving. You can use this information to influence marketing decisions.
  • Squarespace Extensions: This collection of third-party extensions can help you fine-tune your website’s user experience — from tools to help calculate sales tax for your customer orders to customer package tracking.  Some of these extensions will, however, come with an additional fee.

Pricing

The Squarespace Personal plan costs $14 for those who pay annually. If you’d prefer a month-to-month option, you can instead pay $19 per month.

Ideal Users of This Plan

This is the plan for people whose main website goal involves sharing information (e.g., a resume) or creating a site for a single event (e.g., a wedding registry). It’ll also work well for those looking to create a website for a local service-based business

However, the Squarespace Personal plan doesn’t include any ecommerce features so you won’t be able to sell products directly on your website. If you start with this plan and discover it doesn’t fulfill your needs — or if you grow into a larger business — Squarespace makes it easy to upgrade or cancel your plan.

The Squarespace Personal plan is a great place to start and costs just $14 per month.

The Squarespace Business Plan

The Squarespace Business plan is Squarespace’s most popular plan. With expanded core offerings and some ecommerce functionality, it’s more well rounded than the Squarespace Personal plan for businesses that want to try operating an online store.

Squarespace pricing and plans.

Core Offerings

  • Everything in the Squarespace Personal Plan: Each Squarespace plan includes all the features listed for the plan above them in this list.
  • Access for Unlimited Contributors: This plan removes the limit on the number of contributors a website can have. If you want multiple people to make changes to your website, this feature is a must-have.
  • Premium Integrations and Blocks: This feature allows you to integrate functionality that interacts directly with your visitors. For example, a diner might use this feature to allow customers to reserve a table with OpenTable or order food directly through ChowNow.
  • Professional Email from Google: Similar to the free custom domain noted above, if you sign up for a year of the Squarespace Business plan, you’ll get one free year of professional Gmail and one Google Workspace account. After the first year, you’ll have to pay the standard rate for your Gmail account as well as for any other users you add to your Google Workspace account.
  • Complete Customization With Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) and JavaScript: This plan enables more tech savvy users to add their own code to fully customize their website.

Marketing Offerings

Squarespace’s higher-tier plans also come with tools and features geared toward marketing and increasing your website’s visibility.

  • Advanced Website Analytics: This is the advanced version of the basic website metrics that come with the Squarespace Personal plan. In addition to traffic data, you’ll gain access to metrics on item sales and sale conversions so you can better understand how visitors interact with your product pages.
  • Up to a $500 Google Ads Credit: If you start a new Google Ads account, you can get a $500 credit after you spend your first $500. These ads are a great way to kick-start your marketing efforts and help your business appear as the top result on Google search results pages. This credit varies by country and has a few other limitations, so check the terms here.
  • Promotional Pop-up Windows and Banners: This feature allows you to create banners and pop-up windows on your website so you can communicate time-sensitive information, such as a sale or new location opening.

Ecommerce Offerings

This plan also includes another subsection of features and tools you’ll need if you want to sell products directly from your website to visitors.

  • Fully Integrated Ecommerce Features: These features provide everything you need to run an online store — from allowing you to calculate tax and take payments to managing your online catalog and more.
  • Low Transaction Fees: The Squarespace Business plan will charge you a 3 percent transaction fee on items you sell in your online store. If you expect to have a high sales volume, the Squarespace Basic Commerce and Squarespace Advanced Commerce plans waive this fee.
  • Support for Unlimited Products: With this plan, you can sell as many products as you want to your website.
  • Donation Acceptance Tool: Designed for nonprofits, this tool makes it easy to accept donations using PayPal or Stripe.
  • Support for Digital Gift Cards: Gift cards are a great way to reach new clients or make some additional income during off-season months. This feature allows you to create digital gift cards your customers can redeem as a payment option.

Pricing

The Squarespace Business plan costs $23 for those who pay annually. If you’d prefer a month-to-month option, you can instead pay $33 per month.

Ideal Users of This Plan

Given its versatility, the Squarespace Business plan can fit many different kinds of businesses. If you already run a small business, but want to start expanding, many of the tools in this plan will help you get your website in front of more people.

Even if you’re not interested in creating an online store, this plan still has some good features. A smaller restaurant, for example, could use this plan to offer its own online ordering option rather than relying on a third party like Grubhub and DoorDash.

For anyone who wants to collaborate as part of a group, this is the most affordable plan. If you’re starting a blog with multiple authors, for example, each author will need contributor access.

The Squarespace Business plan starts at just $23 per month.

The Squarespace Basic Commerce Plan

The Squarespace Basic Commerce plan retains all of the versatility and features of the previous two plans. It also comes with additional ecommerce tools that cater to businesses seeking to run a dedicated online store.

Squarespace pricing and plans.

Ecommerce Offerings

  • Everything in the Previous Two Plans: Each Squarespace plan includes all the features listed for the plans above them in this list.
  • No Transaction Fees: This plan eliminates the 3 percent transaction fee Squarespace charges users of the Squarespace Business plan.
  • Point-of-Sale (POS) App: Only available to merchants within the United States, this POS app lets you accept payments via Square — online and in person. Using one POS system helps those who operate in a physical space as well as online sync their inventory, customer data, and more.
  • Support for Customer Accounts: Turn a one-time customer into a repeat customer by having them sign up for a personal account. These accounts make checking out of your online store faster and easier, encouraging repeat business.
  • Secure Checkout on Your Domain: Rather than sending your customers to a third  party to complete a transaction, this feature enables you to manage the whole process via your domain. This’ll streamline the checkout process and instill a greater sense of security among your online customers.
  • Powerful Ecommerce Analytics: This plan will give you in-depth information about your product sales, including identifying your best sellers, key sales trends, and more.  You can then use this information to optimize your customers’ experience on your site.
  • Powerful Merchandising Tools: These tools will let you pair products typically sold together and/or create product waiting lists for items that sell out.
  • Product Promotion on Instagram: This tool will sync your online store with Facebook’s product catalog. That means your wares will show up on Instagram and you can tag products on your posts.
  • Limited Availability Labels: These labels will tell your customers if an item is running low, helping to create a sense of urgency and encouraging them to place an order soon.

Pricing

The Squarespace Basic Commerce plan costs $27 for those who pay annually. If you’d prefer a month-to-month option, you can instead pay $36 per month.

Ideal Users of This Plan

The Squarespace Basic Commerce plan suits those with a successful business or who’re already familiar with the industry in which they plan to operate. This plan also works for business owners who wish to streamline and consolidate areas of their business into a single entity so they no longer have to manage separate inventories and spreadsheets.

Take your business to the next level with the Squarespace Basic Commerce plan for just $27 per month.

The Squarespace Advanced Commerce Plan

The Squarespace Advanced Commerce plan represents a large step up in terms of price when compared to Squarespace’s other plans. But it comes with some nice quality-of-life features for your customers and gives you near complete control over your online store. This plan also is the only Squarespace plan that supports subscription services.

Squarespace pricing and plans.

Ecommerce Offerings

  • Everything in the Previous Three Plans: Each Squarespace plan includes all the features listed for the plans above them in this list.
  • Abandoned Cart Recovery: When a customer leaves your website with items remaining in their cart, Squarespace will send them a reminder via email. This can help you accurately track your inventory and encourage customers to complete their orders.
  • Support for Subscriptions: If your business relies on a subscription service, this feature will allow you to set up recurring payments and collect subscription fees on a weekly or monthly basis. That’ll make it easy to collect your ongoing payments from customers without needing them to take any extra time after their initial subscription order.
  • Advanced Shipping: This tool will generate real-time shipping rates from the U.S. Postal Service, FedEx, and UPS for your customers’ orders. It also enables you to control shipping options by ZIP code in the United States and forward sortation area (FSA) in Canada. Beyond helping to enhance your customers’ experience on your site, this tool also can help you identify locations that cost more to ship to than you can afford so you can stop shipping there.
  • Advanced Discounts: This feature automatically applies discounts at checkout, simplifying the process for your customers. It also gives you more control over what discounts you can offer.
  • Ecommerce Application Programming Interfaces (APIs): This feature allows your online store to automatically interact with third-party systems. If you want to automate order fulfillment, inventory management, or any other feature using third-party software, for example, this feature will allow your website to do so.

Pricing

The Squarespace Advanced Commerce plan costs $49 for those who pay annually. If you’d prefer a month-to-month option, you can instead pay $65 per month. This plan costs almost twice as much as the Squarespace Basic Commerce plan so carefully weigh its added features against your budget.

Ideal Users of This Plan

Entrepreneurs who already have a successful, streamlined business and want to start automating as well as business owners concerned about gaining more value from their customers should seriously consider this plan.

If your business model relies on recurring subscriptions, this is the Squarespace plan for you. Someone who hosts digital seminars, for instance, may use a subscription model for exclusive access to webinars. If your business instead wants to set up recurring payments vs. ongoing subscriptions, this plan also will work for you. For example, some florists rely on recurring payments so their customers don’t have to get in touch every time a holiday or birthday occurs. Enabling recurring payments can make it easy on the customer while generating repeat business for the florist.

Give the Squarespace Advanced Commerce plan a try for $49 per month.

Squarespace Add-Ons and Extras

Squarespace’s website-building plans provide a good starting point, but they don’t include every possible feature or tool Squarespace offers. Two of the company’s most advertised tools — Squarespace Scheduling and Squarespace Email campaigns — aren’t included in any of its plans. If you want access to these additional tools, be sure to factor these extra costs into your budget.

Squarespace pricing and plans.

Squarespace Scheduling

Created by Acuity Scheduling (a Squarespace company) and designed for use directly with the Squarespace website builder, the Squarespace Scheduling tool helps you manage your customer meetings and appointments. Squarespace offers three different plans for this tool: “Emerging,” “Growing,” and “Powerhouse.”

Squarespace pricing and plans.

Acuity Scheduling also is a standalone software product, which you can apply to any website — not just those built with Squarespace. However, using Squarespace means you can use Acuity Scheduling with minimal setup and no third-party integration.

The Squarespace Emerging Scheduling Plan

If you run a solo business — or work as a subcontractor who has to coordinate with multiple contractors — you’ll find a lot to like about this plan. It’ll cost you $15 per month if you opt to pay on a monthly basis. Paying annually will cost you $168, which works out to nearly one month free.

With This Plan You’ll Get:

  • One Calendar: With each calendar, you can create a set of times your customers can book with you. If you need more than one unique set of bookings, take a look at the next plan.
  • Calendar Syncing: This feature will allow you to copy your appointments to other calendars in platforms like Gmail, Microsoft 365, and iCloud.
  • Custom Payment Settings and Card Vaulting: Functioning like a POS system, this feature enables you to accept payments or tips from Stripe or Square. It’ll also allow you to save customers’ credit card information to provide a faster checkout process in the future.
  • Automatic Reminder Emails: Your calendar also will automatically send appointment reminder emails to your customers.

The Squarespace Growing Scheduling Plan

If you’re running a salon or studio with multiple employees who all take appointment bookings, this plan may provide the ideal fit. It also suits those sharing a space who need to reserve rooms or equipment ahead of time. The Squarespace Growing Scheduling plan starts at $25 per month, but you can pay just $276 a year if you choose annual billing. That annual option will effectively give you one month for free.

With This Plan You’ll Get:

  • Everything in the Previous Plan: All the features listed in the Squarespace Emerging Scheduling plan also come with this plan.
  • Up to Six Calendars: With this plan, you can now manage six calendars.
  • Short Message Service (SMS)/Text Reminders: This feature allows your customers to receive appointment reminder texts directly on their smartphones.
  • Support for Packages, Gift Certificates, Memberships, and Subscriptions: This feature allows customers to book multiple appointments at once or set up recurring appointments. It’ll also enable them to purchase gift certificates.

The Squarespace Powerhouse Scheduling Plan

The Squarespace Powerhouse Scheduling plan is about scale and customer privacy. It should interest you if your business already operates in multiple regions or needs to take extra precautions to protect your customers’ privacy. But this plan does come with a noticeable price jump that’s double the cost of the previous plan at $50 per month. If you pay on an annual basis, you can get a discount for a total of $540. Be sure to consider your business and customer needs when choosing your scheduling plan.

With This Plan You’ll Get:

  • Up to 36 Calendars: You should have no problem managing appointments at multiple locations with this many calendars.
  • Support for Multiple Time Zones: A lot of businesses are seeing an increase in remote work. This feature will sync time zone information with your customers to avoid confusion and/or missed appointments because it’s unclear which time zone the appointment is in.
  • Custom APIs and CSS Elements: For tech savvy users, these features will allow them to tailor the Squarespace Scheduling tool to your needs.
  • Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) Business Associate Agreement (BAA): For businesses inside the United States that need to comply with HIPAA regulations, this feature will allow you to sign a BAA to ensure your business follows safe data-handling practices.

Squarespace Email Campaigns

Squarespace Email Campaigns enable you to send newsletters and personalized emails directly from your website rather than using a third-party service. While some aspects of this tool are free, you’ll need to purchase a plan if you intend to use Squarespace Email Campaigns on a regular basis.

Squarespace offers four different email plans for this tool: “Starter,” “Core,” “Pro,” and “Max.”

Squarespace pricing and plans.

The Squarespace Starter Email Campaigns Plan

This Squarespace email plan works well for those still testing email campaigns as a marketing tool. It also suits business owners working with a small customer base who don’t want to deal with the added step of using a third-party service to manage their mailing list. At $7 per month, you can try it for a year and see if it helps your business without too much risk involved.

With This Plan You’ll Get:

  • Up to Three Campaigns per Month
  • Up to 500 Emails per Month
  • Unlimited Subscribers
  • Mailing Lists: This feature allows you to categorize your mailing list to match your campaign targets.
  • Sender Profiles: This feature enables customers to learn about your business and helps foster a lasting relationship between your business and its customers.
  • Integrated Marketing Analytics: With this plan, you can track information about who interacts with your email campaigns so you can keep your mailing lists up to date.

The Squarespace Core Email Campaigns Plan

For businesses that plan to run regular email campaigns, the Squarespace Core Email Campaigns plan makes a strong choice. At $14 per month, this plan works well for businesses that produce a blog or podcast with a large following that want to alert subscribers whenever new content is available.

With This Plan You’ll Get:

  • Everything in the Previous Plan
  • Up to Five Campaigns per Month
  • Up to 5,000 Emails per Month

The Squarespace Pro Email Campaigns Plan

The Squarespace Pro Email Campaigns plan is just a bigger version of the Squarespace Core Email Campaigns plan with an increased cost of $34 per month. This plan benefits businesses that want to create multiple mailing lists with different goals. An ecommerce store, for example, might want to encourage new users to sign up for a newsletter to receive discounts and promotions while also sending that newsletter to a different list of people.

With This Plan You’ll Get:

  • Everything in the Previous Two Plans
  • Up to 20 Campaigns per Month
  • Up to 50,000 Emails per Month

The Squarespace Max Email Campaigns Plan

This is the largest Squarespace Email Campaigns plan available, and it costs $68 per month. However, you’re unlikely to be reading this article if you need a plan this size. This plan suits businesses that already manage a massive customer base spanning multiple locations or have a successful franchise that needs to accommodate several different customer bases across a massive area.

With This Plan You’ll Get:

  • Everything in the Previous Three Plans
  • Unlimited Monthly Campaigns
  • Up to 250,000 Emails per Month
