Jimdo Pricing and Plans

Person on Jimdo's website, getting ready to look at pricing and plans.

Jimdo might not be the most popular website builder, but we liked it enough to highlight it in our Best Website Builders article. As discussed in our full review, the Jimdo website builder streamlines and focuses the website-building process into a very condensed, efficient package when compared to competing platforms.

In this article, we’ll aim to do the same and give you the essential information you need to know about Jimdo’s website-building plans — from pricing and feature set to what businesses will get the most value from each plan offered by this smaller, Germany-based company.

Overview

Jimdo offers four paid plans: two geared toward general businesses and two focused on ecommerce stores. Jimdo also has a free plan, but we recommend you treat the free plan more as a trial than as an option for publishing your website. The drawbacks of Jimdo’s free plan will make your website and, as an extension, your business seem unprofessional. It’ll also hurt your site’s discoverability.

We’ll walk through all five plan options: Play (free), Start, Grow, Business, and VIP. Each builds on the features of the one before it so if a plan seems close, but not quite right for your business, check out the next plan on the list to see if it’s a better fit.

The Jimdo Play Plan

Jimdo pricing and plans.

The Jimdo Play plan exists more as an unlimited free trial option than as a plan you should use to publish your website. If you do decide to publish this way, your website will be stuck with a “.jimdodomain” subdomain, which will look less professional and make it harder for it to appear high on Google search rankings. That’s in addition to greatly limiting what you can build and how much storage your site may have.

Core Features

As mentioned above, we recommend thinking of this plan more as a trial without a time limit that allows you to see what’s possible before you commit to a paid plan. You’ll get access to Jimdo’s website builder with this plan so you can play around and see if the platform offers the functionality you want in your finished website.

As far as images and page limits, the Jimdo Play plan provides 500 megabytes (MB) of storage and up to five web pages. That’s enough to get a feel for the Jimdo website builder, but not much else. You’ll also gain access to Jimdo’s contact forms — a feature that allows your customers to leave their information on your site so you may respond to them. This plan also includes access to Jimdo’s mobile website builder and image library so you can see the full scope of the Jimdo website builder’s capabilities.

The Jimdo Play Plan = $0

There are a lot of limitations with the Jimdo Play plan, but at least it doesn’t cost anything.

When to Use

We’ve said it before, but, just to reiterate, if you want a professional and clean-looking website, don’t rely on this plan. Given its mandatory Jimdo subdomain, strict storage limits, and lack of advanced search engine optimization (SEO) features, this plan works best when used to help you decide which of the paid plans will best suit your website and to play around with the builder.

The Jimdo Start Plan

For those ready to build their business a website, the Jimdo Start plan offers a competitive price with essential features that’ll benefit the majority of businesses. Just remember that if you want an ecommerce website, you’ll have to scroll down to our section on the Jimdo Business plan.

Core Features

Offering five gigabytes (GB) of storage, a custom domain, a custom email address, and up to 10 web pages, the Jimdo Start plan enables you to build a professional and mobile-ready website. With this plan, you’ll be able to build every essential page covered in our How to Build a Website article as well as a few others to showcase essential business information.

After you build your Jimdo business website, you’ll also have access to SEO tools that’ll show you how people learn about and interact with your business online. These tools can help with your business’s growth and visibility.

The Jimdo Start Plan = $9/mo.

The Jimdo Start plan costs $9 per month when you pay annually. If you don’t want to commit to an annual contract, Jimdo also offers more expensive month-to-month options.

When to Use

This plan is ideal for someone just dipping their toes into the website-building realm and aiming to launch a website as quickly as possible. With up to 10 web pages and five GB of storage, you can create a professional website that’ll help people discover your business and communicate its most essential information.

In general, think of this plan as a place to start learning about and understanding the Jimdo website builder and what goes into running a successful business website. Its additional SEO features also provide great tools to help you start exploring the wider world of SEO and how much it can impact the success of your business.

As your business grows and you learn more about what you need from your website, this plan may start to feel constricting. Yet, it’s a solid plan from which to begin.

The Jimdo Grow Plan

Jimdo pricing and plans.

As the next step up from the Jimdo Start plan, the Jimdo Grow plan is what we recommend for most businesses. It offers enough flexibility and storage to suit most general-purpose websites, such as those advertising for a brick-and-mortar store or those representing freelancers who need a place to showcase their portfolio to clients. The biggest downside is that this plan doesn’t give you access to ecommerce functionality.

Core Features

With increased limits on everything, the Jimdo Grow plan offers plenty of room to build and create your website. For many types of businesses, this plan will provide ample storage and page numbers for whatever information you may want to share with your customers. If your business website will include a dedicated blog or if you want to showcase a large number of images, you may still find this plan a bit limiting.

The Jimdo Grow Plan = $14/mo.

The Jimdo Grow plan costs $14 per month if you sign up for an annual contract. If you’d rather pay on a monthly basis, there are more expensive payment options available.

When to Use

For the majority of small business owners just starting out or working to grow a new business, this plan will get the job done. With more features than the Jimdo Start plan, the Jimdo Grow plan really suits people who weren’t convinced the Jimdo Start plan had enough to meet their needs. The only major downside is that you can’t run an ecommerce store with this plan.

The Jimdo Business Plan

If you’re interested in starting an online store, this is the first plan from Jimdo relevant for your business website. It’s basically the Jimdo Grow plan with added ecommerce functionality.

Core Features

As previously mentioned, the Jimdo Grow plan will take care of most any website. The biggest difference between the two plans is that this plan also comes with a slew of ecommerce features.

Using Jimdo as your ecommerce platform means you won’t have to pay any sort of transaction fee and can keep more of your money. You’ll also be able to create product pages using multiple layouts as well as set up product variations so you can offer more options to appeal to your customers.

A Jimdo online store also will let you sell via Facebook and Instagram as well as take payments via PayPal or Stripe. You can even set up sales via discount codes and strikethrough pricing so your customers know they’re getting a deal.

The Jimdo Business Plan = $18/mo.

The Jimdo Business plan costs $18 per month when you sign up for an annual contract. If you’d rather pay on a monthly basis, Jimdo offers some more expensive payment options.

Remember, when you use Jimdo, you won’t have to pay any transaction fees. This effectively brings down the cost compared to its competitors.

When to Use

The Jimdo Business plan will provide a good fit for most businesses, including those that need an online store. When you factor in the lack of transaction fees, this plan offers a competitive feature set for small businesses looking to start an ecommerce site.

The Jimdo VIP Plan

As the highest-tier plan Jimdo offers, the Jimdo VIP plan basically removes the limitations that come with Jimdo’s other plans This is the plan for people who want to invest in a website that’ll grow and add pages in the long term, such as those with ecommerce stores that include a blog or an expanding photo gallery.

Core Features

The Jimdo VIP plan offers some major upgrades, including unlimited storage, customer service within an hour, up to 20 forwarding email addresses, and an unlimited number of web pages. This plan makes it nearly impossible for you to run into any size or storage limitation issues.

The Jimdo VIP plan also is the only option that comes with Jimdo Business Listings included. With Jimdo’s other website-building plans, Jimdo Business Listings are an additional feature you can purchase for $5 per month. Jimdo Business Listings allow business owners to save time by consolidating their social media presence so they can keep their information updated across more than 10 different online platforms.

This plan also has another unique feature: access to a professional design review. If you purchase the Jimdo VIP plan, one of Jimdo’s in-house experts will look over your website and provide feedback to help you ensure your website meets modern design standards.

The Jimdo VIP Plan = $24/mo.

The Jimdo VIP plan costs $24 per month when you sign up for an annual contract. If you’d rather pay on a monthly basis, there are more expensive payment options available.

When signing up for a Jimdo ecommerce plan, it’s important to remember that you won’t have to pay a transaction fee. That can reduce the overall price when compared to many of Jimdo’s competitors.

When to Use
