VR Companies to Follow

Every year, new startups pull to the forefront of their industry through exciting innovation and industry-disrupting business models. We’ve rounded up the most exciting VR startups of 2024 that startup-lovers, investors, and aspiring entrepreneurs should follow.

Disclaimer: With so many exciting startups launching and growing worldwide, we aren’t able to cover them all. Furthermore, the startups that are listed below are not officially ranked and are listed in no particular order.

1. Neurable

Location: Cambridge, Massachusetts
Funding: Series A, $9.8 Million

Neurable has built a wireless brain-computer interface platform that lets people interact with objects in virtual reality and augmented reality (AR) environments with their brain activity alone. Using a non-invasive brain monitoring technology called electroencephalography (EEG), Neurable’s device uses its sensors to instantly and accurately detect what your brain wants it to do, which is then translated into signals sent into the VR environment.

2. Seamm

Location: United States
Funding: Seed, $1.7 Million

Founded by Marina Martianova, Seamm is a digital fashion startup outfitting the metaverse. By working directly with real-world fashion houses and designers, Seamm is able to create digital duplicates of collections and pieces for users to wear in the metaverse.

3. RE'FLEKT (Acquired by PTC)

Location: Munich, Germany
Funding: Series A, $5.8 Million

RE’FLEKT has built an enterprise AR software that allows technicians and front-line workers to instantly access interactive training guides and step-by-step instructions related to their industry.

Rather than training every technical employee in person, taking up precious resources and manpower, RE’FLEKT has given companies the opportunity to create an AR training one time and scale it across their entire workforce. By utilizing this technology, businesses can increase the productivity of their employees, empower their workforce, and more easily adopt remote work.

4. Immersal (Acquired by Hexagon)

Location: Helsinki, Finland
Funding: Venture, €1.9M

Immersal has built a software development kit (SDK) that allows businesses and developers to create multi-user AR solutions for industries such as retail, gaming, and manufacturing. By using the Immersal SDK, users can map large real-world spaces and then augment them by including digital content.

For example, an interior design company can map the interior of an empty warehouse and then design the interior with digital content. To view the environment or scenario, anyone with an AR-capable mobile device or AR-glasses can load the scene.

5. Innoactive

Location: Munich, Germany
Funding: Seed, €4.4M

Innoactive is a VR startup that allows businesses to scale their training to thousands of users simultaneously. In the past, training employees required scheduling time with knowledgeable trainers, organizing a training space, acquiring all of the necessary equipment, models, or examples required for the training, and then inviting a limited number of employees due to capacity constraints. With Innoactive, a VR training simulation can be built one time and then redistributed across a global workforce with the click of a button.

Best of all, Innoactive provides a seamless web-based experience, allowing users to launch apps and browse simulations across any web browser.

6. Holoride

Location: Munich, Germany
Funding: Seed, €10M

Holoride has managed to create an immersive moving theme park experience accessible from the backseat of your car. By syncing real-time extended reality (XR) with vehicle navigation data and vehicle movement, your next road trip can truly take you on the ride of your life.

What’s most impressive about Holoride is how it uses real-time physical feedback from the turning and swaying of the vehicle you’re in to make the VR experience more intense, immersive, and visually stimulating. Users begin to feel what they see, and reality truly does become a part of the game.
