Rocket Lawyer Corporate Meeting Minutes Review

Today, we’ll be taking an in-depth look at one of our personal favorites for legal document creation: Rocket Lawyer.

This service provides the best of both worlds and more with their easy to use, time-saving platform. Their templates can be used for everything including corporate bylaws, non-disclosure agreements, and of course, meeting minutes.

We’ll run through the pros & cons of the program, how they compare to other sites, and the pricing scale so you can get a feel for how this service could potentially fit in with your business. Enjoy!

Pros & Cons of Rocket Lawyer

Pros of Rocket Lawyer

  • Meeting minutes are super-common corporate forms. Rocket Lawyer keeps their template up to date by working with legal professionals on a routine basis so you can be sure you’re getting the most applicable version.
  • If you decide to go with their Premium/Accelerate service, you can easily get your meeting minutes looked over by an attorney. The service is included in your subscription fees, so you’ll receive a substantial discount in comparison to what you’d pay for an attorney.
  • Rocket Lawyer handles all the basic format and common legal verbiage so you don’t have to.
  • They’ve done a great job of including step-by-step instructions to help you fill everything out correctly. And if you’re still having difficulties, we’ve had great experiences with their customer service reps.
  • In general, you end up paying far less with a service like Rocket Lawyer, as opposed to hiring a corporate attorney. This is one of the big reasons why so many entrepreneurs stick with Rocket Lawyer.
  • Put simply, their 7 day trial is awesome and comes with all the bells and whistles for you to try before committing to a subscription. (Just keep in mind that when you sign-up and use it past 7 days, it’s a subscription that’ll bill you every month.)

Cons of Rocket Lawyer

  • While you will have access to a legal professional with Rocket Lawyer, they are in no way liable if you make a mistake. That responsibility falls on you. At the end of the day, this is the big distinction between working with an attorney and using an online service.
  • Rocket Lawyer has received mixed feedback. Some customer reviews are fantastic, others had a harder time than ideal. The platform is great for some and not so great for others, so it’s best to try it out for yourself before deciding.

Pricing & Features

Single Document Purchase: $29+ (depending on document complexity)

This generally costs around $29 depending on what exactly you’re looking for and how complex or customized the document is. We’re not a huge fan of this option, as you can’t checkout until you set up a profile and provide all credit card details. However, it makes some sense since they store your document for you, as well as let you come back and revise or edit if need be.

I recommend this package for those of you who want a zero hassle way to create your meeting minutes. Because it's such a low commitment option, you can buy the document, create, revise, download and be on your way.

Premium Package: $39.95/mo.

If you’re looking for a larger commitment, maybe their Premium package is more your style. With this monthly subscription, you’ll have access to their entire document library so you can create whatever legal documents from their templates. Along with that, you can store all of these documents using their cloud storage and revisit and revise whenever you like.

We think this package is a great starting point for small businesses because you have access to all of their templates, so no matter how your needs change, there’s something available to you.

Customer Reviews

Rocket Lawyer has received thousands of customer reviews over the years, and most of them are pretty positive. We’ve pulled together a quick summary of their ratings so you can see how they fair.

Customer reviews as of 8-31-2017:
  • BBB: A+
  • TrustPilot: 9.5/10, 111 reviews
  • SiteJabber: 3.3/5, 386 reviews
  • FitSmallBusiness: 3, 3 reviews
  • Consumer Affairs: 2.5/5, 8 reviews

As you can see, different websites have rather contrasting opinions on Rocket Lawyer. The number one complaint we’ve seen is from these reviews is from users that felt that they were overcharged.

This may not be the case, but in any case, we’d recommend that you always read carefully when signing up for subscription services just to make sure that you’re getting exactly what you want. As far as I can see, it’s almost totally related to billing confusion.
