Incorporate.com DBA Review

Is It A Reliable Service?

Incorporate.com ReviewDo you need a DBA for your company? Unfortunately, it can be hard to figure out who the best DBA filing service is because there are so many of them competing for your business. I’ve been there myself!

To supplement your own research, my team and I spent countless hours analyzing the details of all the popular online DBA services. My goal is to provide you with the info you need to make an informed decision for your business.

In this Incorporate.com DBA review, I’ll walk you through some pros and cons, pricing, features, customer feedback and more. Read on to see if they’re a good fit for your business!

Incorporate.com Pros & Cons

Pros

  1. They opened their doors way back in 1899, meaning they have a level of longevity that no competitor can match. Also, they’ve served 750,000+ customers over the years, giving them impressive client volume as well.

  2. Most companies in this industry have online Learning Centers, but compared to their competitors Incorporate.com includes far more valuable material in theirs. They have ebooks and guides that cover everything from business formation, to tax info, writing business plans and much more.

  3. With extended support hours that run from 8am to 8pm ET Monday through Thursday (8am to 6pm ET on Fridays), they’re available to help you whether it’s the middle of the work day or after you close up shop for the day.

Cons

  1. DBA service with Incorporate.com is expensive. Most providers offer DBAs for $100 or less, but Incorporate.com charges $150 and adds more fees on top.

  2. They don’t have the best customer feedback. We found 46 reviews between Yelp and BBB.org, and only 7 of those were positive. In addition, we could not track down any positive reviews written since 2014.

Incorporate.com DBA Pricing & Features

Incorporate.com has DBA service available for $150 plus state fees, which vary dramatically from state to state.

For example, let’s look at the state of Georgia, which adds a shipping fee, county fees, publishing fees to publicize your new business name in a newspaper (state-required), and a walk in correspondent fee to hire someone to hand deliver your documents to the Secretary of State’s office.

Incorporate DBA Pricing

As for what you get with your DBA package, it’s limited to the essentials. You’ll receive a business name check, along with the preparation and filing of your DBA forms. Other than that, there aren’t any additional features to speak of.

Also, most providers include shipping costs in their general DBA service fee, but in many states Incorporate.com tacks another $20 for shipping on top of the $150. That said, your expenses can add up quickly, especially because most of their competitors include shipping and some services (like LegalZoom) even include publication fees in their base rate.

Just to be clear, not all states add so many fees to Incorporate.com’s price — I specifically chose Georgia because it’s one of the states with the most add-on fees.

Customer Reviews

Customer ReviewsTo be honest, Incorporate.com doesn’t exactly excel when it comes to customer feedback. Between Yelp and BBB.org, I found 46 reviews but only 7 of them are positive, and all of those are from 2014 or earlier. The positive reviewers talk about the efficiency of Incorporate.com’s services, but the critical reviews mention things like billing issues and filing errors.

Customer Reviews Section Last Updated 8-10-17

  • Yelp: 2.0/5 out of 33 reviews
  • BBB: A+ out of 13 reviews

Conclusion: I do wish they had more positive feedback, but to be perfectly honest it still doesn’t concern me too much to see a few dozen critical reviews – which are inevitable. Still, it’s clear that Incorporate.com isn’t going to win your business based on customer reviews.

How Incorporate.com Compares

Incorporate.com DBA ComparisonI’ve spent so much time examining DBA registration services that I’ve noticed some of them offer more value than others. Of course, my goal is still to help you discern which one has the right balance of pricing and features for your company.

Incorporate.com is a good choice for DBA obtainment because they have incredible longevity and a great Learning Center. It’s always smart to keep an eye on the competition though, so let’s see how they stack up against my personal favorite, LegalZoom.

Pricing: LegalZoom’s base rate of $99 represents a significant savings over Incorporate.com’s $150 price tag, especially since LegalZoom doesn’t add on nearly as many additional fees.

Features: LegalZoom includes shipping and newspaper publication, where applicable. Incorporate.com adds $20 to most DBA orders for shipping, as well as adding $40-150 for publication in some states and another $30 for walk in correspondent fees.

Customer Support: Both Incorporate.com and LegalZoom have fairly good service departments, but they’re both a little bit inconsistent. Incorporate.com’s reps aren’t quite as knowledgeable as some competitors, although they’re easy to get ahold of. On the other hand, LegalZoom is a major operation with a massive volume of customers, and their support can be hit and miss because of that.

Experience:com opened way back in 1899, with 750,000+ businesses formed in that time. LegalZoom is a newer company, having opened in 2001, and they’ve formed over 1 million businesses.

Common Questions

Can I File a DBA Independently?

You always have that option, but know going in that it can be a hassle depending on your location. Using a DBA filing service like Incorporate.com can handle this for you and leave you free to actually run your business. If you would like to try the DIY route, check out our extensive how-to guide.

What’s Their Refund Policy?

They can be pretty strict, so make sure you read through the fine print before ordering. If you request a refund before Incorporate.com submits your paperwork, they’ll refund your money except a $50 fee. However, in their own words, “if you cancel your order after it has been submitted, we will use our discretion to determine what portion of the fee, if any, will be refunded.”

How Secure Is Incorporate.com?

With McAfee SECURE protecting their website, you can feel confident that you’re as safe using their site as any competitor’s site.

Do They Offer Ongoing Support?

They sure do, and in fact their service department runs on the motto “No dumb questions.” Even if you feel like your question is too simple (or too complex) they’ll do their best to help.

Should You Use Incorporate.com?

Incorporate.com scores a 4.5/5 in my book. Their longevity is impressive and their Learning Center has lots of valuable information.
