Incorporate.com NonProfit Review

Is It Right For You? (Pros, Cons & More)

Incorporate.com ReviewAre you forming a nonprofit but don’t want to go the DIY route? Nonprofits can have complex compliance requirements that make going it alone a big hassle. On the other hand, so many companies provide nonprofit formation that it can be hard to determine which one is the best fit for your organization.

To complement your own research, my team and I spent many hours studying the top nonprofit formation services. Our goal is to help you figure out which provider is right for you.

In this Incorporate.com nonprofit review, I’ll discuss the pros and cons, pricing and features, customer feedback and more. Let’s determine if they’re a good choice to handle your nonprofit filing!

Incorporate.com Pros & Cons

Pros

  1. They opened for business in 1899, giving them unbeatable longevity. With 750,000+ customers served in that time, their volume of clients is also quite robust.

  2. Compared to most competitors, Incorporate.com’s nonprofit formation service is far more fully featured, including everything you need to get up and running, as well as remain compliant down the road.

  3. Most providers have some sort of FAQ section or online Learning Center, but Incorporate.com goes much farther with their wide variety of ebooks and guides. They cover a ton of topics from formation tips to tax info.

  4. McAfee SECURE continuously scans their website for malware and other vulnerabilities, along with encrypting data transfers. In short, Incorporate.com cares about your online security.

Cons

  1. Customer feedback is not their strong suit. Incorporate.com has 46 online reviews between BBB.org and Yelp, but just 7 are positive and all of those are from 2014 or earlier.

  2. At $1,495, their price point is on the expensive side of the industry scale, especially when some competitors offer nonprofit formation for as little as $49. Of course, these aren’t directly comparable services, as Incorporate.com offers a broad suite of features whereas those <$100 services only file your documents.

Incorporate.com Nonprofit Pricing & Features

Unlike many providers, Incorporate.com has one nonprofit formation package instead of offering you several to choose from. Priced at $1,495 it’s definitely at the high end compared to other industry players but they justify it with an incredibly detailed breakdown of everything you receive.

Incorporate nonprofit pricing

Included Features:

  • An hour-long introductory consultation with one of their nonprofit experts
  • The preparation and filing of all relevant formation documents
  • 501(c)(3) application and guaranteed IRS acceptance
  • 3-year financial budget and growth projections
  • IRS representation and case management ensures you never miss a deadline
  • Nonprofit Advisor Academy guides you through formation, funding and future growth
  • 5-day turnaround time from order submission to IRS filing
  • 100% money-back approval guarantee

This is a comprehensive level of service that only a select few competitors can match. On the other hand, the $1,495 price tag is also one that not many competitors match. What it comes down to for me is the complexity of your organization.

For some simple nonprofits — for example, ones that don’t need to hire employees, accept cash donations, etc. — the Incorporate.com nonprofit formation package may be overkill. For others, it might be exactly what you need.

That’s why it’s important to always do your research and likely speak with an attorney. After all, no one wants to buy something they don’t need, but on the other hand incomplete formation packages can be a real hassle to supplement.

Customer Reviews

Customer ReviewsCustomer feedback is probably not where Incorporate.com will earn your business. For whatever reason, not many of their customers write reviews, and those that do are mostly those who feel they’ve been wronged in some way.

Out of the 46 reviews linked below, just 7 are positive. Also, every piece of positive feedback is from 2014 or earlier.

Customer Reviews Section Last Updated 8-16-17

  • Yelp: 2.0/5 out of 33 reviews
  • BBB: A+ out of 13 reviews

Conclusion: Is it a good thing to have mostly critical online reviews? No, of course not. On the other hand, considering they’ve served 750,000+ customers since 1899, it’s also not so bad that just only 39 of those clients were unhappy enough to voice their concerns on the internet. While I would like to see more positive feedback, this isn’t a deal-breaker for me.

How Incorporate.com Compares

Incorporate.com NonProfit ComparisonWith all the hours I’ve invested into researching nonprofit formation services, I’ve determined that some simply offer better value than others. Still, the goal here is to figure out which one has the features you need at a price that won’t break the bank.

Incorporate.com is a good choice for nonprofit formation due to their complete service package and their incredible longevity as a company. It’s smart to keep an eye on what the competition has to offer though, so let’s see how they compare to my personal favorite, Harbor Compliance.

Pricing: Harbor Compliance’s $1,499 base rate is nearly identical to Incorporate.com’s $1,495 price tag.

Features: While both companies offer premium nonprofit service packages at similar rates, there are differences in what they have to offer. Harbor Compliance has features more geared toward the business management side of things, like a federal tax ID number (EIN) that enables you to hire employees and pursue company financial accounts, and registered agent service to receive and forward important legal documents. On the other hand, Incorporate.com seems more oriented toward the taxation and compliance side, with features like IRS representation.

Customer Support: Harbor Compliance is known for their Compliance Specialist system, which assigns an employee to every customer for ongoing compliance assistance. However, Incorporate.com also has impressive service for nonprofit formation customers, with features like the 1-hour initial consultation.

Experience:com has been in business since 1899, with 750,000+ customers served. Harbor Compliance is a much never company, but they’ve already served over 10,000 clients since 2012.

Common Questions

Can I File a Nonprofit Independently?

You have this option, sure. The issue is that nonprofits have complex requirements for compliance, and it’s nice to have a provider like Incorporate.com handle that stuff for you. If you do want to try the DIY option, take a look at our extensive how-to guide.

What’s Their Refund Policy?

They’ll refund your money less a $50 fee if you request your refund before they submit any paperwork. Beyond that, they say they’ll use their discretion when deciding whether or not to give you a refund, which I’ll go ahead and assume means “nope.”

How Secure Is Incorporate.com?

They have McAfee SECURE protecting their site, so you’re as safe with them as on any other provider’s website.

Do They Offer Ongoing Support?

Certainly. In their own words, “our team will work with your business for as long as it takes to receive a positive letter of determination.”

Should You Use Incorporate.com?

Incorporate.com earns a score of 4.5/5 from me. Their comprehensive service package is impressive and their longevity as a company is impossible to match.
