Wix Pros and Cons

Pros

  • The Wix drag-and-drop editor offers you a total sense of control, making it easy to get your website looking how you want.
  • Wix offers a free version that still contains quite a bit, as well as a 14-day free trial for testing out upgraded plans.
  • The Wix editor is user-friendly, offering intuitive suggestions. This allows you to have your ideal website up in a matter of minutes.
  • Wix offers popular services like appointment booking and membership features at all Business & Ecommerce plan tiers. And anything that doesn’t work for you comes with a 14-day money-back guarantee.
  • With more than 800 templates and over five different price points for plans, Wix has something to offer most any business.

Cons

  • Wix has some mixed customer reviews— although this is to be expected for just about any website builder these days. Be prepared for some tasks to be a bit more difficult than expected.
  • Wix also hasn’t completely synced its mobile capabilities, meaning not all sites can be viewed well on mobile devices.

Wix Pricing & Features

Wix has several different options for pricing and plans. To make it easy, it has broken these down into two sections for us: Premium Website Plans and Premium Business & Ecommerce Plans.

Wix Premium Website Plans

Besides the Wix Free Plan, there are four Wix Premium Website Plans—  Combo, Unlimited, Pro, and VIP. The prices listed are for annual subscriptions; keep in mind that month-to-month plans may cost a bit more.

Wix plans and pricing.

Free = $0/mo.

The Wix Free Plan does come with quite a bit, but will also hold you back in certain areas. You will have an assigned Wix domain instead of your own personal domain, and Wix ads will be displayed on every page of your site. Site analytics and online payments are not included in the Wix Free Plan, but you do have up to 500 megabytes (MB) of bandwidth and storage. You have access to Wix Customer Care, but it is limited.

When to use: Unfortunately we would not recommend using this plan. It could be helpful for getting your site up and running and feeling out Wix, but not having your own domain name and having to display ads is a deal-breaker for most. Plus, Wix offers a 14-day free trial for any Premium plan, so you might as well try those out anyway.

Combo = $14/mo.

With the Wix Combo Plan, you can connect your own personal domain and get a free domain voucher for your first year. This plan also gets rid of those Wix ads displayed on free websites, comes with limited video streaming capacities, and three gigabytes (GB) of storage space. Plus, this plan gives you 24/7 access to Wix Customer Care. Check out the Wix App Store to connect free or low-cost apps to make your website more dynamic.

When to use: The Wix Combo Plan is a great, low-cost package, good for most any artist, freelancer, or small business looking to get a basic website up and running. This plan will allow you to put a nice portfolio or landing page up, or even showcase some videos of who you are and what you do.

Unlimited = $18/mo.

The Wix Unlimited Plan comes with everything included in the Combo Plan, but with more storage space and more video library or streaming capabilities. Plus, you get the Wix Site Booster App and Visitor Analytics App free for the first year, as well as $300 in ad vouchers for Google Ads ™, Microsoft Advertising, and Google Local Listing Ads ™.

When to use: The Wix Unlimited Plan is geared towards entrepreneurs and freelancers looking to spread their reach. The added search engine optimization (SEO) provided with the Booster and Analytics Apps, will help your site appear at the top of search engines and get your name out there.

Pro = $23/mo.

The Wix Pro Plan comes with all of the above and includes even more storage and video capacities. On top of that, this plan also includes the Wix Events Calendar App free for one year, allowing you to add upcoming events to your website as well as to sync your scheduling with your site. You can also design a professional logo for your website, brand, social media, and beyond.

When to use: This plan is truly a good bang for its buck— coming with complete and consistent online branding. When you’re ready to present a polished, professional, and streamlined face to the world, this plan is here for you.

VIP = $39/mo.

Providing the most storage at 35GB, the Wix VIP Plan has everything included in the Pro Plan, as well as up to five hours of streamable videos or downloadable content. The only other thing to set it apart from the Pro Plan is that it comes with Priority Customer Care, letting you skip the line if you ever need help troubleshooting something.

When to use: If you are in need of more support to get your site up and running as smoothly as possible, this is the plan for you. No need to wait in line for customer service, just jump right ahead. Plus, if you’re a digital creator and need to store and sell your digital content, this plan has the most space for you.

Recommended

The Wix Pro Plan has the most built into it at a reasonable price and is a solid fit for almost any entrepreneur or local business owner looking to expand their reach. As always, any of these plans come with a 14-day free trial, so test them out for yourself to see what works.

Wix Premium Business & Ecommerce Plans

Besides personal website options, Wix also has Business & Ecommerce Plans, for anyone looking to open an online store or promote their own brand and services. As mentioned earlier, the prices here reflect annual subscriptions and a monthly plan subscription may cost more.

Business Basic = $23/mo.

With the Wix Business Basic Plan, you get all the core Wix essentials like no ads cluttering your site, a custom domain, free domain hosting for one year, and 24/7 Customer Care. On top of that, you get access to secure online payments, ways to set up payment plans and recurring payments for your customers, and customers can set up accounts with you. Storage space for this plan starts at a whopping 20 GB and you can have up to five hours of video content or streaming libraries. Plus, there are no product limits, you have access to abandoned cart recovery, and you can sell on social media channels.

When to use: This plan is a great way to get your online store up and running, as well as to promote and sell your goods or services on social media platforms— helping you find new customers.

Business Unlimited = $27/mo.

The Wix Business Unlimited Plan has all the same features as the Business Basic Plan, but with some added bonuses. Not only does it have more storage and video capabilities, but you can offer subscriptions and can accept international currencies. There’s a feature to automate sales tax on the first 100 transactions you make each month, as well as advanced shipping and discounts. Plus, there’s even a way to connect your product reviews to your website, boosting customer trust.

When to use: With the Wix Business Unlimited Plan, you can truly begin to grow your brand‘s reach. This is the perfect fit for any online store looking to expand. If you’re a busy local business owner needing a website that can keep up with your growth, you’ll find good things here.

Business VIP = $49/mo.

Providing the most storage at 50GB, the Wix Business VIP Plan has everything included in the Business Unlimited Plan, as well as unlimited hours of streamable videos or downloadable content. You also get Priority Customer Care, access to unlimited dropshipping, and ways to set up loyalty programs for your repeat customers. This plan is the fullest expression of what Wix can do for your business, expanding the capacities of all the offerings for the previous plans.

When to use: When your online store or business is ready for the full-service treatment, the Wix Business VIP Plan is here for you. Many of these features are a great way to take extra work off your hands while having an ecommerce website that almost runs itself.

Recommended

Honestly, the Wix Business Basic Plan comes with more features than the Wix Pro Plan, and for the same price. With this plan, you can accept payment for your goods and services, upload more videos or digital content, and sell on social media channels. This is a great way to get your business website going, even if ecommerce isn’t your main focus.
